Simple But Useful Tips For SEO

Do you want to increase your SEO skills, here are 10 tips on how to optimize your website to ride up the search engine rankings.

Be bold

Use the tags around some of your keywords on each page once or twice, do NOT use them everywhere the keyword appears.

Deep linking

Make sure that you have links coming in to as many pages as possible. The search engin will think that your websites have a lot of worthwhile conten when it finds other websites are linking to different pages on your site. Please not let all your links come in to the home page, or the search engine will consider your site as a shallow site of little or your links were generated by automation instead of by the value of your site.

Newsletters

Offer articles to ezine publishers that archive their ezines. The links in their archives usually stay live for many years.

Become a foreigner

Try to get a business address in one of the foreign countries. Both Canada and the UK offer many directories for websites of companies.

Multiple domains

Search engines usually list only one page per domain for any given search, and you might want two or more. Just home pages are accepted by directories. So it might be worth having serveral domains to support their own websites on different topics.

First come, first served

Search engine robots will only follow the first link they find to any particular page and they won’t follow additional links to the same page. So when you must use image as links in the navigation bar, please also include text links and make it show up first in the source code.

Not anchor text

Don’t overdo the anchor text. Never overdid the anchor text as it may make your inbound links look like automation.

Titles for links

Links can get titles, too. Making titles for links can help visually impaired surfers know where you are sending them. Moreover, some search engines use this as their relevancy for a page.

Article exchanges

You’ve heard of link exchanges, article exchanges are like link exchanges, only much more useful. You publish someone else’s article on the history of pudding pops with a link back. They publish your article on the top ten pudding pop flavors in other country with a link back to your site. Both of you have content. Both of you get high quality links.

Site map

A big site needs a site map, which should be linked to from every page on the site. This will help the search engine robots find every page with just two clicks. A site map is also needed by a small site. The small site map is named as navigation bar.

There is a lot more to do with search engine optimization, and there are also more details that need to be paid attention to when looking at a personal site. But these tips are useful when you want to improve your site’s rankings.
